While writers were keeping the US publishers busy in the '40s and '40s, British authors were producing their own monthly output of pulps. The stories and the covers had a very intense quality to them.

In 1934 you could shovel driveways on one side of the street and sidewalks on the other and maybe make enough to buy a Doc Savage--a deal at twice the price!

The first four years of Doc Savage pulps had some of the best covers. News of the Man of Bronze had made the rounds and everyone wanted to see what this new crimebuster was all about.
